In 1856 Thomas Burberry - a 21 year old drapers apprentice - opened a small outfitters shop in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. A commitment to quality and innovation earned Burberry a loyal following, and by 1870 the shop had grown into an emporium.
Equipped by Burberry, the Norwegian explorer Captain Roald Amundsen became the first man to reach the South Pole. In 1955 Burberry was awarded a Royal Warrant by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Burberry Ophthalmic Collection continues in Burberry's tradition with innovation coupled with luxury. Rimless designs, fully rimmed metals in sleek modern variations on ovals and rectangles are finished in a beautiful range of colours.
Burberry Eyewear has a strong influence on the eyewear market today, combining unique styles, patterns & colours. The rejuvenated 2008 range of Burberry spectacle frames and sunglasses all bear the hallmarks of the Burberry brand.
As with all Burberry spectacle frames and sunglasses, each model comes with its own distinctive Burberry spectacle case and Burberry lens cleaning cloth.
